Gong
Sync calls from Gong so every recorded customer conversation lands on the account timeline and feeds sentiment and topics.
Gong is a revenue intelligence platform that records and analyzes your customer calls. Connecting it gives Cust the conversation history for every account, without anyone uploading call notes by hand.
What Cust syncs
For each call, Cust imports:
- Call details: title, date, duration, and the meeting link.
- Participants: everyone on the call, with internal and external attendees distinguished.
- Gong's call content: the call brief, key points, and next steps that Gong generates.
Each call becomes a meeting on the matching company's timeline, alongside emails and support conversations from your other sources. The sync is read-only: Cust never writes anything back to Gong, and it does not import audio or video recordings.
Connect Gong
Admins connect Gong in Settings under Integrations.
Create an API key in Gong
In Gong, go to Admin center, then Ecosystem, then API, and create an API key. You need to be a Gong administrator. Gong gives you an access key and a secret key.
Add the credentials in Cust
Choose Gong on the Integrations page and enter your company's Gong API base URL (it looks like https://yourcompany.api.gong.io) together with the access key and secret key. Cust verifies the credentials immediately.
Let the initial sync run
The first sync imports your full call history. After that, Cust checks for new and updated calls every 15 minutes.
How calls are matched to companies
Cust first tries to match each call to the calendar meeting it belongs to, using the calendar event behind the call. When that succeeds, the call attaches to the same company and contacts as the meeting.
When there is no calendar match, Cust falls back to the participants: external attendee emails are matched against your contacts, and the call attaches to the matched contact's company. Calls whose participants Cust does not recognize yet are held rather than dropped, and they attach automatically once the matching contact or company appears in your portfolio.
How Cust uses the data
- The call shows up as a meeting on the account's interactions timeline, with its summary, key points, and next steps.
- Sentiment and topic analysis run on the call content, feeding customer intelligence and signals.
- The content is available as context to the Assistant, so answers can cite what was actually said on calls.
Notes and limitations
- One Gong connection per workspace.
- Which calls sync is governed by what the API key can see in Gong.
- Calls Gong has no content for, such as voicemails, are skipped.
- On large Gong accounts the initial import can take a while, because Gong enforces daily API limits. The sync pauses when it hits the limit and resumes automatically.
Already recording with another tool?
Cust also integrates with Fireflies, Modjo, Granola, Grain, and Zoom. See the full list on the integrations overview. When two tools cover the same meeting, the first synced transcript is kept.
