Assistant connectors
Connect remote tools to your Assistant and control whether each tool is allowed, approval-based, or blocked.
Connectors give your Assistant access to tools from another service through a remote MCP server. They are personal connections, managed in Settings → Connectors, and are available when connectors are enabled for your workspace.
Use a workspace integration when you need scheduled data sync into company records. Use a connector when you want the Assistant to call the connected service's tools while helping you.
Add a connector
- Open Connectors and browse the available services, or choose a custom connector.
- For a custom connector, enter a Name and Remote MCP server URL. Use the server's MCP endpoint, not its ordinary website address.
- If the provider requires registered OAuth credentials, expand Advanced settings and enter the OAuth client ID and secret.
- Click Connect and complete the provider's authorization.
- Open the connector and review its available tools and permissions.
Tool permissions
Each tool has one of three policies:
| Policy | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Always allow | The Assistant may use the tool without asking each time. |
| Needs approval | The Assistant asks for approval before using the tool. |
| Blocked | The Assistant cannot use the tool. |
You can change a single tool or apply a policy to a whole group. Review write and delete tools carefully before allowing them automatically. These saved policies apply to your connector beyond the current chat.
A tool approval in chat can also offer Always allow for that connector tool. This differs from Always allow for this chat, which grants permission only within the current conversation. See Assistant approvals.
Disable or reconnect
Disable a connector when you want to stop the Assistant using it. If authorization is rejected or expires, reconnect and check the tool list before trying again. Removing a connector does not undo actions already completed in the connected service.
